I think something similar to the madness condition that D&D uses might be a better fit. They usually make the user go crazy the more they use it so why not do the same with the PC. To be honest I can't imagine what kind of game some GM is running that requires sustained use of a Sarcophagus. Personally I feel like this isn't something that should be dealt with through mechanics anyway so much as through roleplay but I think that about quite a lot of things though.
