  1. Hi all, now that the core rulebook is out we're in a better position to focus on getting the episodes out. The following is the schedule we plan to keep to for the remainder of Season 1. 2. I don't see anything in the rules about replaying modules. Are players allowed to play a module again with a different character, or are people who have been a GM for a module allowed to play through that module after they have been a GM for it?

  3. I'll make sure to add this in the next version of the Living Series Guide, but the rule is that a player can play an episode multiple times, but they must use different characters each time. A character can only play an episode once. Thanks

  4. I could also offer some knowledge in the matter of military training and customs as I am a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant with 21 years military service. And yes I served in Air Force Space Command for 4 years.

  5. Adventurers League & Path Finder Society are different from Living Stargate in important and utterly fundamental ways. First, there are so, so, many more than 13 adventures a season. Second, they're really no where like the linear story the LSG campaign has set itself up as. Thirdly, character progression isn't the strictly linear affair it is with the SG RPG. Oh, and there are a gajillion more people playing them than will ever play this campaign. If you're going to start level-gating adventures -- which I think is a terrible idea that screams trying to hammer a SGRPG peg into a AL/PFS hole -- instead of designing them to be playable by any level then, you have to accept that some people aren't going to be able to play them. Putting that gate in, then twisting everything in knots trying to find ways to allow people to bypass it seems to me to be a self-defeating exercise. Why go to all the effort of finding a way to circumvent the problem when the problem doesn't even have to exist to begin with? The question people should be asking is how to handle tables with both low and higher level characters sitting at it, which is far more pertinent to convention style play. What happens if someone who's played all of season one sits down at a table otherwise populated by people whose first game is the start of season 2? Or tables where most characters have an extra half season of play over someone? The devs should have gone with a scaleable NPC system where you work out how challenging an encounter/adventure is meant to be -- Milk Run, easy, difficult, hard, impossible -- and the system scales the numbers so that level of challenge remains broadly consistent. Since they didn't, it's going to have to fall to the episode writers to include a section dealing with these issues.

  6. Until there is a gate network connecting all game conventions together, Wyvern Gaming's staff can't be everywhere. That is why we need YOU! Do you have a game convention in your area? Would you like to run and/or coordinate Stargate Phoenix Living RPG Series games and get rewarded for it at the same time? If yes, then you are reading the right post. Here is what we need from you at least 1 month prior to the convention: Send us an email at gaming@wyverngaming.com with the subject of "Convention Support - [name of convention]." In the email we need to know the following information: Your Name The email address you use on stargateTheRPG.com Your mailing address Name of the Convention Convention Dates Number of Episode Runs you are planning Create Episode Runs within the PLAY section of this site for each table you are planning to run Ensure that players join Episode Runs and GMs submit After Action Reports for each table that is ran Here is what we will do for you if you are planning over 15 Episode Runs: Announce your convention games to our growing StargateTheRPG.com community. In addition, we can make a call for GMs on your behalf Officially list the convention on our Stargate Convention Calendar Provide you with a convention specific Discord channel on the Wyvern Gaming Discord Server Provide you with printed pre-gen character sheets Provide you with digital PDFs of the current season of episodes currently available Badge lanyards for your Gatemasters and Coordinator so people know who they are If you are planning an event with over 30 Episode Runs, we will also provide the following: Give-away package containing various Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game accessories and add-ons If 90% of the tables you planned to run have valid After Action Reports within a week after the convention you will also receive: $80 in credit on StargateTheRPG.com Note: We do reserve the right to deny convention support in certain circumstances.

  7. Looks like the STL files currently released are for Resin printers. Is there a plan to also release versions of the STLs for Filament printers?

  9. "This means any PCs who did not go off-world are not fit to continue with the episode." You really expect any GM to tell his/her players that they cannot continue with the episode? Really?? Honestly, who did think of something like this at the beginning of the first episode? Neither players nor the GM have any experience with the system at this moment. To tell a GM to kick PCs out of the party for not jumping blindly into the gate without the instructor is not only a very bad style but most probably the end of the campaign before it has begun, since no one is gonna sit around at the table for the rest of the evening and do nothing. So my first task in this new season is to a) railroad my players to blindly jump through the gate and b) injure one PC in the process, giving them a bad experience. Both are things I cannot do as a GM, which is why I made the following changes: First, the introduction already leads the players through the gate, since I know these guys will try to repair the coolant leak if given the chance, with the risk of getting injured and - following your rules - getting kicked out instead of a recovery. And second, they get an additional "red shirt" who gets the injury. I know the episodic structure forces a tighter story telling, but using just the methods that you yourself told us in the rulebook to avoid in our gameplay .. that's not the way.

  10. If it's a choice between alternatives, it will say OR. The presence of a comma in a list lacking "or" is read as being equivalent to "and". You are correct however that stylistically the lists of prereqs should be written in an identical fashion.

  11. Option 2 is just dumb. No credit for playing with a character that isn't the one you wanted to play the game with in the first place? I can't see anyone agreeing to that.

  12. I considered buying the STLs, but I play with friends virtually so it didn't make sense to me. I only use an FDM printer myself, and have over the past few months started seriously printing minis for an in person DnD game. In my limited experience (big caveat: I've never looked at the models released for this game), if a model is not meant for FDM, it's going to be hard to print on an FDM printer. However, there are some tricks you can try Slow down your print speed. Seriously. I get excellent prints on my Ender 3 with 50 mm/s normally, but run minis at no higher than 20 mm/s unless they were meant for an FDM printer. Play around with support settings. Tree supports are fantastic for small models like minis. Another trick for a model with a lot of detail is to rotate it 45 degrees back so it is on its back while printing, and support it from the back. This helps to ensure any little bits that stick out in front like pouches or similar don't need to be connected to supports. I use Cura, which has a free plugin in its marketplace for adding supports to a model wherever you would like. Figure out exactly what temperature to use. I managed to get a decent (not perfect, but well within tolerance for what I needed) of 90 degrees for about half an inch without a support because the filament was coming out at a cold enough temperature that it hardened almost instantly. I use this model whenever I use a new filament to really fine tune the temperature of the filament: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3329956 . That made the difference between minis that look like Devin's photos and ones that came out perfectly (again, I'm not printing the Stargate models, I'm printing miniatures for DnD, so I can't give specific help on these models). Open blender or some other 3d modeling software and make some alterations to some of the thinner fiddly bits that break off. I had a model I was trying to print recently where the character had an arm up in the air. I tried 3-4 times printing it as-is before I finally replaced the arm with a thicker one that blended in with the rest of the model, and that made a huge difference without compromising on how it looked. You might need to print something like a staff weapon separately and glue it on later with something like gorilla glue. If you're new to your printer or the filament you're working with, figure out what settings you need to get something like this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2806295 printing cleanly (do the temperature tower first so you have one less setting to tune). Hopefully that's helpful to someone! If I decide to buy any of the STLs myself I'll let you guys know what my experiences are with printing them on my Ender 3! What if you were to scale all of the models the same amount? Say 10% or so? (Once again, I've never actually seen what they look like, so maybe that's impractical. I'm just thinking out loud)

  13. I have also wondered this! What I would like to see when new episodes are released, ideally, would be a forum post outlining: What episode(s) have been released in this announcement A link to the file (it took me another week after Sazeral's comment to find the files because they aren't in the same places as the first two, which aren't in the same places as the four side missions, which again aren't in the same place as episodes 3 and 4). The date by which mission reports should be filed to be considered for the living series If there is a rough idea of when the next episode(s) will be released, what is that time frame (as vague as necessary, but as specific as possible). I didn't even know there were side missions released until I saw another forum post talking about them. Without Sazeral's comment, I wouldn't have known that episodes 3 and 4 were made available yet.

  14. What's the deadline for completing these as part of the Living Series? I see Ep 1 just went up yesterday, which is disappointing as I didn't see any announcement about a deadline for Ep 1 which our group only just played today

  15. I printed the iconics and the gate/rings last week on my Form 2. Mostly good, though pretty much impossible to print the staff weapon on the jaffa without them breaking. Their just too thin. Im going to have to replace them with brass rod. The combat knives were not as bad but close. I think these were made to look better as 3d models than functional prints in some ways. I have one of the ghould and jaffa sets to do next and am really worried about all of the staff weapons.

  17. Page 6, Column 2: The first perception check ends mid-sentence with "if failed" All side missions: Rewards section "Players typically gain three MPs per episode unless they do not succeed at a portion of the episode." ....and then only 2 are awarded since this is not an episode.

  18. Will the deadlines for submitting after-action reports (to feed into the canon) be published somewhere? I'm running Episode 1 this weekend and I don't know if we're early, late, or right on time!

  19. Is there a (rough) schedule for season one of the living series somewhere? I see that there has been a link for episode 3 up for a couple weeks, but no download yet. Is there any timeline on when it would be made available? Similarly, does the season as a whole have a timeline of roughly when episodes will be released? I realize that with six weeks to run each episode and then after mission reports to read through we're talking easily two months between episode releases. Is that a fair expectation of timing? Thanks!

  20. Ok, so another idea to generate a designation, more in line with ”computer generated alpha-numeric code”, and taking into account the prevalence of certain digits. roll d10 for each of first three digits. First Digit: 1-4=P 5-7=M 8-9=Random Letter 10=Random number Second Digit: 1-9=use the number 10=Random Letter Third Digit: 1-5=X 6-8=C 9=Random Letter 10=Random Number Add a dash followed by a random three digit number. Cross Reference known designations. If it already exists, add a fourth number in the end.

  24. So just an idea to add to the extras system. They could have a leader or 2 that is a normal NPC that mechanically increases the courage rating of extras around them or under their command as long as they are in the fight still. A Goa’uld inspires the Jaffa around them. Perhaps +2, their Prime adds another +1. Makes the extras initially more difficult but they lose steam. Any thoughts?

  25. I would recommend having the first few games of your campaign be unrelated to this. Run a few sessions where the Tok'ra who will be corrupted is a supporting team member. Have him save their butts a couple times, play him as likeable and charming. Telegraph his impending doom for those who are trope aware and know what happen to helpful, likeable support NPCs. When he doesn't die but becomes the big bad theres more impact to it. Maybe they can try to save their friend from his corruption or feel responsible to stop him. The dying host of the corrupted Tok'ra might make a request of them that pushes one way or the other.
