  1. Ok so I am a gun guy in real life. Been shooting for 45 years, six in the Army as an Infantryman. Some thoughts on weapons ranges, versus what is currently in print, and what has been suggested. Sidearm - Qualification for the CCDW (concealed carry) permit in Kentucky is 20 rounds, within the designated space on a target that resembles the standard E-type silhouette used by the US military. Range to hit the target is 7m. I can hit a target, generally speaking, out to 25m, anything beyond that will be a waste of ammo, or just suppressive fire. Longarm - this will vary by specific weap

  2. We're looking for ideas for bottle episodes and we'd like to have your help! If you have a Stargate SG-1 story that you think would make a good one for the Phoenix team and are interested in getting a "Story By" credit in a published episode. Send us the mission outline to Gamemaster@wyverngaming.com Criteria for a bottle episode is that it can be slotted into any season and has a completely self contained story. We are looking to keep these Missions around 5 pages (2 hours).

  4. Hello! I'm not sure if this is the correct space, but I would love map tiles optimized to add to a VTT like Roll20. It would be nice to have them in jpg format trimmed to fit the grid system on a VTT - Also maybe produce a set without grids already on the maps so we don't have to spend a ton of time tryong to line the grids up. Also feedback on what has already been made available. In the Haven tiles, the Aturen District Ground Level the sections are very poorly stitched togther on the overview. Can this be fixed to make adding them to a VTT at least in line with the other ove

  5. Sauna and Hot Springs This facility is where members of Phoenix Base can relax and unwind. Surprisingly popular with humans, Jaffa, and Aturen, these spaces are quickly spreading to Haven in general. Saunas and hot springs help restore achy muscles and foster a sense of quiet contemplation and community. Benefit: When you spend your downtime in the sauna or hot springs, choose Athletics or Culture. You gain a bonus equal to the facility bonus to checks made with that skill. Additionally, if the facility bonus is +2 or higher, ythen the first time you suffer exhaustion during the next

  7. This is mainly directed at the Administrators. I was thinking to publish my online discord campaigns as a podcast so I can share my groups adventures with the community and give the devs something to analyze in real time instead of a feedback form. Is there any issues with doing that? Just wanted to ask here first before going ahead and doing anything.

  8. I suspect the answer is probably "both", but the DHD is kept powered down and locked away in the basement for emergency situations. As a corollary, Phoenix Base using a dialling computer means it's going to be unaffected by next year's Avenger 2.0 incident but any teams it has deployed are going to be just as badly affected as those of the SGC

  11. Whether required or not, D&D 5E is the largest selling RPG in the world. It accounts for literally millions of players. And about 75% of those won't even think about a different game engine, for a variety of reasons. For a small company, basing off anything else is going to merely cut the potential sales by more than half. Stargate, likewise, isn't the biggest IP around. FFG got away with Star Wars by several factors: FFG is a long standing powerhouse in the industry; Star Wars is one of the highest grossing IP's ever, and FFG went all out on the public beta. 12. Also listing "bow" is strange, since that's wrapped up under common weapons currently. It seems insane that a modern military scout would not have the ability to use longarms, so second that.

  13. You ask, I deliver. I just asked a friend of mine who is currently in the Army. The following numbers should be read as a standard accuracy range, I would argue that the way we would apply them would be the combat distances would be a good first increment distance. Ideally with more like the 3.5 ish range increments than the 5e ones, but I can be only so picky. Target: (based on ratings for fire arms) Pistol: 50 yards SMG: 200 yards Rifle: 500 yards Sniper: 1800 yard Combat: of course fuzzy Pistol: 20 yards SMG: 100 yards Rifle: 200 yard Sniper: Undefined.

  14. I got sucked into the Discord main channel debate on this last night. (AKA Time in my life I won't get back) My only suggestion to the overall debate would be to make the max range the weapon system's max "effective range" which would put the P90 at 200m. Then take 25-50% of that range as the "close" range for the weapon. They also need to make different longarms because a P90, an M4, and an M16 all have very different stats and ranges. If they don't, however, that's their prerogative since the numbers they list are based on real world tested statistics. As for the argument a

As it is, this actually binds the players more to what is available on base, and what they are actually able to requisition. Players are welcome to rearm themselves after the briefing, and this way I can be more free to have interesting restrictions or stories which force the players to think about their equipment.

  16. Fellow gate travelers, I am incredibly excited for the official release of Stargate RPG, as a long-time fan of the franchise I can't wait to dive deeper into my favorite sci-fi series. I'm also a podcaster and I always enjoy finding a way to blend my hobbies. I wanted to reach out here to see if there were any players interested in coming together (3, maybe 4) and starting a monthly real-play podcast that follows the season(s). I backed the project fully and have access to all the official materials from Wyvern Gaming, and I thought this would be a great way to get even further into the

Hope you enjoy it and if you do, please consider supporting it. It helps me to keep working on it https://www.bu

  18. Adventurers League & Path Finder Society are different from Living Stargate in important and utterly fundamental ways. First, there are so, so, many more than 13 adventures a season. Second, they're really no where like the linear story the LSG campaign has set itself up as. Thirdly, character progression isn't the strictly linear affair it is with the SG RPG. Oh, and there are a gajillion more people playing them than will ever play this campaign. If you're going to start level-gating adventures -- which I think is a terrible idea that screams trying to hammer a SGRPG peg into a

  22. Hi everyone, I made up a Facebook Group for the Stargate SG1 RPG. I'm a backer at the Stargate Command Tier for right now (hope to go up or just add on when the pledge manager opens up). I have gained a lot of ideas and good discussion in the many FB groups I am in for my Pathfinder 1E games and I want to try and do that for Stargate. Hope you'll join us there as well as here on the forums. https://www.facebook.com/groups/880222332785542

  24. I don't think it's a scam. I can totally see a massive company like the IP holder soft peddling the approval to Wyvern. What I find absolutely unacceptable is how they seem to have completely abandoned their own forum. All those guys are doing is sitting in zoom calls all day, there's no reason any of them couldn't dip in here regularly and interact with the fans and backers. Hell, when was the last comment or post from the staff on here?

So that I could still see their sheets, and help people create their character I made an automated sheet for them to use. It has been updated several times due to comments, and always happy to hear more comments of changes people would like to see. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RSV-HfChgr279paYvjdIgR2qD5Xmw4RSd5j5QEBM4TI/edit?usp=sharing

  33. Whether the magic item cycle is bad in D&D is a strawman, but it's clear from the feats that it's not intended as part of the rules, by feats making the attacks power up. It was a strawman I didn't care to address; since you bring it up, it's part of the mythic structure many D&D campaigns, wherein it feels if not good, at least reasonable. But in Stargate, the weapons as a whole tend to be fairly stable across the series for each series. SG1, there is the move from P90's to Zats; even then, many missions are P90's. Universe, they never have access to new weapons (excluding the ship'

  38. I'm not sure I agree with the method chosen of retconning this episode. The original setup of "team finds a living Goa'uld queen" seems fine, even if the disposition of said queen could perhaps have used some work. If it was presented, for example, that the Pangarans worked out a way to study the queen to synthesize tretonin without needing to mulch any sentient beings, that might have been much more palatable, while still presenting enough of an ethical dilemma to be intersting. The biggest problem with the retcon was that the purported Dilemma wasn't much of one at all. Given th

  39. So you are agreeing that the numbers are ridiculous? Why have you been arguing they aren't? It is all well and good to say that the GM should modify to suit themselves, and that is exactly what I did, but what about new GMs, or just non-confident ones? Intentionally putting in poor quality stats with the intention of the GM modifying them is a poor way to go about it. Why not do something like use reasonable ranges for standard, and disadvantage range, then have some further penalized max range. Or some more creative solution.

  47. Well, 5E doesn't do botches the way Spycraft does, one result of which was that when things didn't go to plan the host and the symbiote could find themselves out of sync with each other for a round or so. There were systems for dealing with the symbiote changing hosts. Mechanically, the symbiont and the host were distinct yet interdependent entities. Yet here, the mechanics don't really give any impression of that -- though to be fair when introduced into the series we were given the impression that Jacob was perhaps unusually... active... as Tok'ra hosts go. To start with, the cut'n
