Short by Aturen norms, Lærsa is only 6'2". Hailing from the Reeflands, she has the lithe build of someone who spends a great deal of time swimming, and the kind of all-over bone-deep tan that you can only get by spending your entire life on a tropical island.
She has an expressive heart-shaped face with high cheekbones, violet eyes with monolids, and the outer third of her left eyebrow is separated by a small scar (childhood injury, just enough to create a visible split in her eyebrow suitable for identification purposes). Her hair is azure/cobalt, though partially sun-bleached to a pale turquoise/teal, and is kept in thigh-length microbraids (though from day-to-day the microbraids might be worn in any number of styles, such as loose/down, pulled back into a ponytail, twisted into a bun, or woven into a larger braid). There are numerous small beads that appear to be made from carved driftwood and seashells throughout the microbraids, and also colored threads wrapping and/or woven into various braids.
She is a Nox-trained healer and marine biologist, and a pacifist. Her father is one of those who supervises the reefs and ecosystem, and her mother travels to Parliament often "even if only to remind them that the reefs exist".
the Reeflands:
the collective name (English translation of the name) for a number of tropical archipelagos that are relatively close to each other. Each archipelago has great reefs surrounding it and also between some of the islands in the archipelago. The simplest overall description for the Reeflands and the local culture is "Asian-Caribbean fusion with an aloha foundation." The locals spend as much time in the water as they do out of it, tending the reefs and the balance of the local ecosystem.
