Sofia was slave belonging to a minor Goa'uld. During an uprising, her husband was killed as well as a Tok'Ra's host. Though Sofia did not want to be a host, she knew it was the only way she would be able to protect her children. She has three children living in Haven, the town above Phoenix Base, though they do not know she is a Tok'Ra. Karim served the Tok'Ra since he took his first host. He has always been more outspoken about defeating the Goa'uld, believing the secret lay, not with the subtle spying, but by training humans to fight back and rebel against the Goa'uld. The Tok'Ra High Council was always against such overt techniques, reminding Karim that every time a Tok'Ra died, there would be no replacement. Once the Jaffa rebellion proved to be a thorn in the Goa'uld's empire, he chose to join Phoenix Alliance to assist in training Human, Jaffa, and any other races how to fight the Goa'uld. Three days a week Sofia teaches the children of Haven basic reading, writing, and arithmetic. As well as any other skills she feels children should have. The other four days a week Karim trains Phoenix Base team members in military tactics that have proven effective against Jaffa and Goa'uld.
