Castor Villis grew up aboard his family's fishing boat. For 23 seasons he learned wayfinding & how to live off the bounty of his world's oceans. The coastal town where he lived was surrounded by a massive forest. Castor loved exploring the land almost as much as he loved the sea. His life was quiet & peaceful...
...& then the stranger arrived...
A wounded man stumbled into town one day, pleading for help in a language no one understood. Castor's grandmother & older sister were in town that day & took the man into their care. He was gravely injured, suffering from several strange burns. Despite his grandmother's knowledge of healing, it looked like the best thing they could do for him was make him comfortable & wait for the end. A short time later more strangers arrived, this time armed with weapons the likes of which no one in the town had ever seen & escorted by hulking armored monsters with the heads of animals. Their leader began demanding that the man who came through the "Chappa'ai" be released to them. He said that they served a powerful god & that the town now belonged to them. The village elders, including Castor's uncle, were gathered up & imprisoned within the Great Hall at the center of town. The man claimed that they would be executed at dawn if their quarry was not found.
That night, the dying man spoke to Castor in his own language. He told him that soon he would die, but that there was a way to save a part of him. His knowledge could live on in Castor if he agreed to be "joined" to something the man called "Apak." Castor agreed as long as this Apak would help him save his home from these invaders. The symbiote wasted little time in moving to its new home. Soon new insight began flooding into Castor's mind. He understood that the strangers served no gods. They were little more than pirates that subjugated whole worlds & took what they wanted by force. Apak & those like it were known as the Tok'ra & stood against everything that these enslavers believed. They were not alone in this resistance. A force called the "SGC" fought against the oppression of the Goa'uld as well. Apak & his partner Sirgus were on their way to deliver critical intelligence to their allies when they were discovered & Sirgus was mortally wounded.
Working together Castor/Apak pooled their knowledge of Goa'uld tactics & the local landscape to set traps for their enemies. That night their numbers dwindled one by one as the newly joined Tok'ra fought from the shadows against those who would threaten his friends & family. In the end, their numbers were too great. Overcome & captured, he was about to be executed when salvation arrived in the form of SG-5, who had been dispatched to retrieve the Tok'ra operative & had tracked his escape to this planet. The Tau'ri's weapons made short work of the last of the Jaffa. The town free & his family safe, Castor/Apak said his goodbyes to the world he loved & set out for a new grand adventure among the stars.
